Wedding F.A.Q.'s:
Q: How long have you been providing wedding entertainment? A: We began concentrating our efforts on weddings in 1989. Since then, we have collectively performed at over 1000 receptions.
Q: What does the DJ wear to the reception? A: We leave that choice up to you. Most receptions are either formal (tuxedo), semi-formal (suit & tie) or casual (slacks & tie).
Q: What happens in the event of an emergency and our DJ cannot perform? A: Fortunately this has never happened but if something unforeseen should occur, one of us is always on call (with copies of the event itineraries) to perform at your reception.
Q: Do you provide references? A: Yes, we do make vendor references available upon request.
Q: Can we view one of your performances? A: We do not encourage this. Though it may sound like a good idea at first, it seldom works out due to date, dress, location or time scheduling difficulties. It may also be perceived as invasive.
Q: What is a reasonable price for a disc jockey service? A: In a nutshell, typically 5-10% of your total reception budget. However, a better method for determining price may be considering the value of entertainment in relation to the many other elements of your reception. It may help to create a scale of 1 to 10 in levels of importance for each item such as cake, hors d'oeuvres, food, beverages, chair covers, ice sculpture, etc.. Ask yourselves which of these aspects your guests are more likely to remember in a year or two and the cost of entertainment should begin to sound very reasonable.
Q: Isn't that a lot of money for someone to just show up and play music? A: Quite frankly, maybe.....if that was all there is to it. However, the DJ does much more than simply play songs. Because he performs as Master of Ceremonies, he will most likely be in charge of orchestrating the important elements of your reception. Events such as the introductions, cake cutting, traditional toasts, formal dances and bouquet/garter toss are his responsibility. He will be coordinating with you, the banquet manager and the photographer throughout the duration of your reception making sure that everything moves along nicely. Aside from this, he must be well versed in the music he plays in order to keep the ambience pleasant and fun for all.
Q: There are lower-priced DJ's out there? What makes you different? A: The difference is that we provide great, professional service and the peace of mind that goes with it. Our sole purpose is to deliver a guaranteed performance within guidelines established under contract by YOU, the bride and groom. The plain truth about competition is that there is almost always someone out there willing to do any job, regardless of the industry, for less money. This does not mean that they will do the same job and unfortunately, luck is not on the side of the service bargain hunter. Remember, there is no "better luck next time" when it comes to your special day.
Q: Will our DJ take requests or does he play only what he wants to hear? A: YES! It is the DJ's JOB to take requests unless you specify otherwise. In fact, we encourage your guests to offer suggestions. Naturally we discuss your musical guidelines ahead of time in order to avoid any material you may deem inappropriate. In other words...if you absolutely can't stand the Chicken Dance (What!? Are you nuts?), you won't hear the Chicken Dance. Period. |
